Zhao Xue

Zhao Xue is a World Junior Girls Chess champion (2002). She is a three-time Olympic champion as a member of Chinese women team (2002, 2004 and 2016), and a three-time winner of the Women's World Team Chess Championship in 2007, 2009 and 2011. She competed in several Women's World Chess Championships, reaching the semifinals in 2010.

Zhao won two gold medals at the World Youth Chess Championships – in 1997 (girls under 12) and in 1999 (girls under 14). In 2002, she won the World Junior Girls Chess Championship in Goa, India.

In 2007 Zhao won the Queens Woman Grandmasters tournament in Bad Homburg and tied for first place with former women's world champion Zhu Chen in the women's super tournament in Krasnoturinsk, Russia (Zhao took second place on tiebreak).

In 2010, she won silver medal in the women's individual rapid chess tournament of the Asian Games. Later that year she took part in the Women's World Chess Championship and reached the semifinals. This helped her to qualify for the FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2011-2012. In October 2011, she won the Nalchik stage, with impressive score of 9.5/11. Zhao finished fourth in the Grand Prix overall standings.

In 2012, Zhao won the Asian Women's Blitz Championship. In 2013, she won the prize for best female player at the Gibraltar Chess Festival. Zhao also won the women's chess tournament at the Summer Universiade in Kazan.

In 2015, Zhao Xue won the New Zealand Open with a score of 8/9. In 2017, she won the gold medal in the women's Basque chess event at the IMSA Elite Mind Games in Huai'an.
